Ecstatic Dance of Duality #3

This series is meant to take my work out of the comfort zone of the painterly aesthetic I usually create. I aimed for a more contemporary approach, and at the same time, I wanted to retain the composition and posing native to my style. The lighting was especially challenging compared to my usual setup, because I needed to create the right highlights and depth on black and use shadows for sculpting the white. All at once. That resulted in a lengthy shoot, about 8 hours including the bodypainting, and a cumbersome editing process, in order to eliminate all imperfections and areas of contagion between black and white surfaces, to achieve a level of perfection close to computer generated 3D models.
