THE LAST LIGHT

THE LAST LIGHT   Why I call it “THE LAST LIGHT” is because it was my last night in ICELAND. First time I went to Iceland in the extreme winter of December 2016. It was a long awaited dream to see the country and Northern lights. Every dream starts with so many challenges and mine also started with many challenges from cold to storms, from bad weather to car accidents but once a dream happens then all is gone and only memories and experiences stay with us forever.  On 31st December, I experienced one of the best nights of my life. A night that I would never ever forget. I reached Reykjavik, it was showing great activity and clear sky. It was my last night in the country. So, I had to choose between the New Year party in Reykjavik or going out of the town for the Auroras. My mind was telling me to go and enjoy the best party of life but my heart wanted something else. I knew in my heart that auroras were the one thing I came for and I wanted it. So, I skipped the New year celebration although in Reykjavik it was one of the craziest and happening New year celebrations with great fireworks and parties.  I drove outside of the town in – 12 degrees to hunt for the auroras. I was sure that something would come up in the sky and god would bless me with the last amazing show.  While driving and looking for activities I saw some green light in the sky. I stopped my car and came outside to enjoy the nature show. It was really magical and beautiful and at every second the auroras were getting stronger and moving all over the sky. I was looking for the strong composition and I decided to drive further down the valley. After 30 min of driving I saw a strong green light in the sky and a farm house on the left side. I stopped my car and went outside to see, I saw the auroras starting to appear in the sky behind the house and was moving pretty fast. I realised that it could be good composition with the house but I didn’t know that god planned something magical for me for that night. After waiting  for 30 min in the cold at -12 degrees, the magic happened. I saw the AURORAS was rising from the back of the houses and blooming like a flower, I couldn’t believe my eyes for a second. It was the best and most emotional night of my life, I was so close to my dream and nature. I cried like a baby at that moment and captured it, it was for a few minutes but the whole moment imprinted on my heart forever. I believed that I was completely lucky to be at the right spot and right time to see the auroras rising behind the houses like a flower.  I knew in my heart this photo would change my life and course of photography. Once I published it, it became the most awarded and featured image of my life so far.  I believe that this photo is unique and rare and might never be reproduced ever again. It was exhibited in “ TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHER SOCIETY” in Malaysia. It was awarded nationally and internationally.
