Rising Above the Glass Ceiling
Welcome to a post-glass ceiling era. The empowered feminine has risen, the old patriarchy has come to pass and a new dawn has begun.
Patriarch's of our time: Putin, Trump and others are finally at peace as they have now been formed back into the feminine; vaginal forms take shape on their faces. The all encompassing divine mother has put them at ease and stripped them of their false personas of bully boy grandiosity. Ancient greek columns lay across the floor, symbolizing the end of phallicism and the leap forward into the Yonic era.
A goddess of expression, sexuality and bodily power sits boldly in the scene with her knees firmly planted in the cracked glass. The glass ceiling has been broken and she has been fortified by the struggle. The cracked glass is a reminder of the battle ahead for the collective feminine to gain power but a hopeful acknowledgement that through the suffering one does emerge, reborn.
In what McIntyre defines as "Shameless Couture", the central warrior goddess wears a piece developed over three months of fine digital couture work. The work takes on dimensions of shame within the female experience while readdressing them and giving them a position of admiration. Women globally are shamed and killed for menstruation stains in schools and shamed at work for lactation and breast feeding, these natural powerful elements of humanity have been cast to the shadows. This piece reintroduces them, imagining a future where they will not be hidden--where they will be seen as beautiful and divine. In her hands, the goddess holds two orbs of light, vulva power resides within them. She teaches the viewer that the secret to their empowerment was their bodily form all along, it is the ultimate weapon.
The avatar was created by McIntyre after her own image, she allows this piece to act as a note to self, a reminder of her own ferocity and challenges that she faced deep within the patriarchy while working in Silicon Valley. She invites the viewer to see themselves in her and to be empowered by her gaze.
Can the introduction of the feminist lens to futurism evolve a new path of creation and evolve the language of design with an intention of total expression for all?
