Forgotten Menuet

This is the first recording of a piece of music that has gone unheard for over 250 years. Forgotten Menuet pays homage to the unrecognized musical talent of its composer, Countess Anna Maria Wilhlemina von Althann (1703 - 1754), wife of Philip Hyacinth, 4th Prince Lobkowicz. A gifted lutenist, Countess von Althann's talent was likened to that of the finest professional lute players in Europe by witnesses of the time, yet she remained unrecognized in a society that overlooked female musical ambition. Forgotten Menuet brings her music back to life for the first time in centuries through a new recording and animation of her hand-annotated score, helping to recompose the neglected history of a gifted female composer and musician.
