Lonely Castle is the first stop on our Journey and marks the beginning of Gab’s Genesis collection “Virtual Voyage”
To journey into the future, we must first revisit our past.
“As I stood in front of the Lonely Castle, I closed my eyes. The air was still and cold, the atmosphere eerily silent. As I opened my eyes an overwhelming sense of something much greater than myself came upon me. Before me stood more than just an ancient artifact, more than an incredible feat of human creation. Before me stood thousands of years of rich history. Endless stories of a people and civilization that existed in this very place where I now stood, each with their own unique tale and journey. This site is all that remains of the Nabatean people who carved this antient tomb into the golden Quweira sandstone. I knew I had to capture this moment in time, that in a way represented both the past, present and future of all voyagers. I bring it forth to you now in a format fit for modern exploration and an important beginning chapter for our own journey.”
Lonely Castle was captured at the archaeological site of Hegra in 2018. The location is extremely restricted and requires a permit for access. Gab was one of the first people to be granted special permission to shoot the site, marking history to create the first aerial image of this kind in the region.
The collector of this unique piece will also receive their own piece of history in the form of a 1minute short film. A Cinematic piece, focusing on the rich landscape and history of this ancient landscape. Directed and produced by Gab.
