My father wore a pink blazer, my mother wore a blue dress. When I
was a boy, my father would take me to the cinema and colors would
pulse through my head. Pale ceanothus, green ash, casino, lemon and
flax, cherry, lapis, damson and cobalt. I dreamt of California and
the light in the canyons and all the colors of the Pacific as they
tumbled through the dark and fell upon the stars.
