This work is part of our series "Circular Ruins", itself stemming from "Potential Herbariums", a wide array of generative works derived from GANs. These models were trained on more than 4 million herbariums gathered worldwide. Inspired by a short story by Jorge Luis Borges as well as "Atlas of Remote Islands", a book by Judith Schalansky, we used the GAN-generated shapes of a fascinating -and somewhat impossible- vegetal to create a 3D landscape, a imaginary remote island to be explored.
