This artwork has been generated in 2019 using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), trained on a dataset of still life paintings. Still life has always done more than represent objects: it evokes the invisible presence of those who touched them, arranged them, used them, and left them behind. Similarly, a machine cannot experience our world, it knows it only through images. The work stages a peculiar form of imagination: a vision of human life reconstructed solely from its representations.
