This is a dynamic and interactive artwork. In A Degen Osteria draws inspiration from In A Roman Osteria painted by Carl Bloch.
This piece challenges the viewer to unlock hidden layers of meaning—both literal and metaphorical—by engaging with its cryptic nature and discovering and typing secret phrases.
The secret phrases are hidden in the artwork. Discover them, type them in the box and observe the artwork changing.
In A Degen Osteria invites the viewer into a shifting narrative about the art world—its beauty, its excess, and its transactional nature. Inspired by Italian osterias—where art, commerce, and conversation intertwine—this piece unfolds in four states, each revealed by entering the correct secret phrase.
In A Degen Osteria is an experience, a dialogue, a decryption of the forces at play behind the scenes. It challenges the viewer to question: Is art the meal, or are we simply dining on the illusion of its worth?
