Gene Modification: Chimeras #1
My interest in the ethical issues of artificial (re)production of animals, eventually human organs – or humans in the future - made me create digital art about this topic.
A key ethical question regarding the principle of producing animals by cloning is whether this
technique is violating some moral prohibition, ie, that people are “playing God” by producing
embryos without using fertilization.
Concerns about eugenics, the once popular notion that the human species could be improved
through the selection of individuals possessing desired traits, also have surfaced, since cloning could
be used to breed “better” humans, thus violating principles of human dignity, freedom, and equality.
I elaborate the thwartings of this topic in my 3D art. This piece is belonging to the series of artworks showing real-like reflections on the surface of a magical sphere. What kind of future, what kind of creatures can we see in the magical sphere?
