The Flight and Fall of Icarus
Daedalus was a highly skilled and inventive craftsman, known for creating the Labyrinth on the island of Crete, which housed the Minotaur, a half-man, half-bull creature.
Daedalus and Icarus were imprisoned in Crete by King Minos, to prevent the knowledge of the Labyrinth's secrets from spreading. Seeking to escape, Daedalus crafted two sets of wings for himself and Icarus, ingeniously constructed from feathers and wax. Before their flight, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too low, which would cause the dampness of the sea to clog his wings, nor too high, where the sun's heat would melt the wax.
However, during their escape, Icarus, exhilarated by the experience of flying, ignored his father's warnings and flew too close to the sun. The wax in his wings melted, and he fell into the sea and drowned.
