Raquel Meyers (Cartagena, Spain b. 1977) works with obsolete technologies like the Commodore 64, Teletext, typewriters or fax machines mixed with photography, animation and embroidery, among other techniques.
This work is a conversation with obsolescence using a secret code (BASIC), a character set (PETSCII), and analog video synthesizers. Created during a residency at Signal Culture in 2023, the work used a range of experimental video synthesis tools: Signal Culture Modular Apps, Wobbulators, the Hearn EAB Videolab analog Processing System, and several Dave Jones Design tools: Raster Manipulator, MVIP, and Frame Buffers. The raw material was in a hard drive until 2025 when "Secret Code" was created for The Experimental Frontier Exhibition at Loveland Museum from October 4, 2025 to January 10, 2026.
