A monstrance is the vessel that shows the sacred to the eye. Jakob Böhme taught that before God there was the Ungrund, the groundless abyss from which all light emerges. This relic holds it up for viewing: rings of flame, rose, emerald and sapphire descending into the first darkness. A manifestation of the sacred, raised among the spheres.
