In the far reaches of the Eastern Sierra a zone of incredibly unique rocks has earned the name "Alabama Hills". At the bottom of the hills lies the tiny town of Lone Pine, and the top, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mt. Whitney. This creates an almost 10,000 foot vertical difference from the viewer to the top of the mountains, and leaves one in absolute awe of just how big everything can feel. In this photo, a climber ascends one of the rocks in Alabama Hills, with Lone Pine Peak towering behind.
