The Jade Woman

Something about old age has always interested me. When I painted The Jade Woman, I imagined an antithesis to The Red Man, since they're opposites on the colour wheel, after all. She, to me, embodied a quiet grace I had always observed in the elderly, and it was inspiring. Smoking her pipe, I imagined her looking up, to infinity.
