This is a recovered negative from a very expired pack of peel apart instant film that is no longer in production and will never be seen again. The last of its kind, its a medium lost to time, just as much of the image itself was lost due to aging chemistry and processing mistakes. Despite the losses, I find it somehow more beautiful and far more meaningful.
These textures and artifacts remind me of the wildly prevalent themes of glitch art and digital destruction in the NFT art scene. Themes that reflect the growing fascination with the aesthetics of digital errors, imperfections, the inherent unpredictability of computational systems, and the beauty that can emerge from its flaws. I find the same beauty revealed in the destructive quality of time, the elements, and sometimes even human error as it brings forth the inherent power and soul of traditional mediums.
