Calm Under Pressure

This is one of the very first images that I created that fueled my desire to document others pushing the outer level of wave riding in waves of consequence. Having travelled nearly an hour out to sea from the mainland as a passenger on a jetski, to a secluded wave out behind an island, I was handed the controls of the jetski as my two other friends Phil read and Bradley Norris, pictured here proceeded to tow themselves into what can only be described as a very very dangerous wave. Bradley has surfed here since he was young. I found I already had all the skills and ability with all my experience combined I was able to position myself super close to this wave, read what was going on and still operate my camera effectively and safely. From here I took any opportunity I could to be around waves that have had an extra level of extremity to them. This image was created nearly a decade ago.
