Cyclonic

On the 27th of March 2018 the remnants of category 5 cyclone Marcus sent an extremely rare swell from a northerly direction running down the coast, where it would unload part of its energy along Wyadup Beach in the South West of Western Australia. The beaches in Western australia are subjected to swells primarily from a South westerly direction. When swells arrive from the North they turn a normally shallow straight handed beach break into a slabbing running point break. This swell combined with the beach condition at the time created perfect but nearly unrideable waves This swell was so rare and so short that I lasted for around 8 hours. by the afternoon it had disappeared. One of the craziest days of waves ever witnessed and one that has not been seen since. This moment features professional surfer Jay Davies one of only a handful of surfers to successfully exit a wave during the swell window. This image shows well, how hard the swell energy was draining off the sand bottom. Looks like Jay is running downhill somehow.
