Sometimes you spend a ton of time on something thinking that it will end up exactly how you expect; other times, you get a wrench thrown into your plans. This is one such time -
I made this drawing initially for a client project. It’s the first drawing in a two-drawing series; and after 4 separate approvals throughout the drawing process, I was told "Actually man, I don't know if this works for our needs; I don't know if this was the direction we were thinking of.” Naturally, I was ready to give revisions and came up with a detailed revision plan based on our multiple conversations (and the contract that stated they get a round of free revisions) but my many paragraphs of due diligence were met with silence. For weeks. And then they unfollowed me. So now here I sit, minting this work because I spent SO much time on it, and wasn’t paid for my labor, aside from the initial upfront payment. Here I am, taking my art into my own hands once again —- the very reason I found myself in Web3 in the first place. I’m still fucking annoyed about it. I’m fucking annoyed that I did all of this work only to not be paid and the project (which I was really excited about) to not be completed. Honestly, it’s exactly why I stopped doing most client/freelance work after I found the blockchain. I’m tired of my work being disrespected. The prompt was “Teletubbies but fucked” - the real SUBURBAN HELLSCAPE is dealing with people who don’t respect your time and energy.
