“Yellow Jacket” catches a gunfighter at the instant reaction becomes action. He lunges forward with a pistol in each hand, one already flashing. His bright coat makes him impossible to miss, but it offers no protection from what comes next.
Behind him, the wheel and its flame-crowned guardian put the gunfight in a larger frame. The shot may end this confrontation. It cannot, by itself, end the fear and anger that brought him here. What looks like a decisive moment on the frontier may be another turn in a cycle.
The title carries its own warning. A yellow jacket strikes when threatened, and the gunslinger may believe he is doing the same. Is he defending himself, or has he become so ready to fight that he can no longer tell the difference?
