The Imaginarium
The imaginarium.
The artwork was my interpretation of a daydream, getting lost in imagination, and churning around in familiar ideas.
This artpiece has become significant to me in ways I couldn’t have predicted. What started off as an enjoyable task in my evenings of exploring immersive drawing techniques ended up as a piece of art that was seen by almost 100 million people across various social media platforms and as a result significantly increased my social media presence, connected me with global brands for commercial work, and introduced me to new artists that I otherwise would never have met or heard of. All of this has continually openned doors and I hope crypto-art is the next step.
Over the months I have been inundated with messages to turn this artwork into an NFT. The crypto-art world fascinates me and the concept of finally being able to give digital art value is an exciting prospect that I hope to explore more in the future.
The music behind the artwork was composed by my ever talented childhood bestfriend, Chris Mortlock. He is a Cambridge graduate of Music turned Doctor, who is passionate about classical and contemporary orchestra. When he’s not tending to the ill he’s composing some sick tunes for his own pleasure. Unfortunately he’s not digitally savvy and struggles to open a PDF so has no twitter presence i can share, but, we’ve had a wonderful time coming up with this piece together and it’s been a great opportunity to jump back in to our college days of sitting in the music department creating, albeit this time in a virtual space. Any earnings made from this this artwork will be split 70/30 between myself and Chris!
Words from the musician:
The music seeks to create a stable base for the viewer as The Imaginarium is explored, whilst maintaining a sense of movement throughout. I've tried to achieve this through writing music comprising solely of arpeggios - varying in length and harmonic makeup - that rise to a common pitch (F#). This allows a variety of rhythms and harmonic colours to be explored, but with a clear frame of reference.
Further to this piece I will be releasing each chapter of the immersive illustration as individual art pieces. These have been worked up in more detail to a standard of how I usually draw landscapes like this!
