These birds are highly social and thrive amongst eucalypt forests, relying on tree hollows for nesting and abundant seeds for food. Their calls echoing through the treetops, This morning spent amongst a grass tree filled valley in Boranup Forest was very special. These birds are mesmerising, the weren’t afraid of me whatsoever.
This moment of a singular bird swooping through the valley is very special to me personally knowing what my experience was.
The Baudin’s Cockatoo faces significant threats from habitat destruction, making their survival increasingly precarious. Listed as endangered and only found in the South West, protecting their forest homes ensures that these magnificent birds can continue to soar through the skies for generations to come is of critical importance.
