Cruel Summer

Growing up, my mom listened to a ton of New Wave bands, including Bananarama. I particularly loved their song "Cruel Summer", which always reminds me of those hot days by the lakefront in Chicago when I was a kid. You know, those days that feel like you're going to melt and stick to the pavement, but you get a cold drink and some shade and everything's rad? I live in NYC now, and I originally made this piece in the dead of winter 2019. I wanted to re-live those hot summer days, hanging out by the water with my friends without a care in the world.
