Frozen in time in a moment of hope. Deciding which path to take. Lost in possibility and wonder.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Curved shapes are fascinating. I often wonder why I like them so much. Apart from the objective or scientific explanation. I enjoy the flow that each curved shape creates. It is a calming experience that is most important in my work and is often achieved through some form of cloth simulation. But sometimes it is even more pleasant to draw these curves by hand. The process itself becomes part of the final piece. When I decide to work with curved shapes or geometry, it often reflects stress or how busy I am at that time.
I choose the subject of my pieces based on self-reflection and idealism. It’s an abstraction of what I wish my mind and thoughts would look like. A manifestation of a perfect state I wish to get back to.
Shapes and geometry aside, I put a lot of emphasis on choosing the color of my work. The prominent color of this piece is blue. In retrospective, I noticed that blue is a color I use in certain threshold situations. Times, where my life takes a turn. Where something big will happen or just a lot of things will happen at the same time. Hand in hand with this realization goes the closing and turning of my last pieces. Creating a sense of progression. A sense of hope. A state that ideally should draw your attention to yourself. Forgetting everything around you. Even if it is just for a few seconds.
