Find the light, even in the darkest times. Never give up even though it seems like you can never achieve your dreams. Believe in the light and you might become the light. //
„Light in the Dark“, the 5th piece of my „Against all Odds“ series is a composite photograph and therefore one of the most relevant parts of my creative journey. It’s when my learning curve increased exponentially because I decided to not let anything limit me any longer.
My definition of „composite photography“ is the recreation of a feeling & showcasing the exact emotions I have felt in this moment.
The original image was taken in Riisitunturi, Finnish Lapland. My alarm rang at 5am, then I started hiking in snow higher than my knees. Nothing else but the sound of snow - pure silence. Finally on the top I felt like I’m in a different world. Trees completely covered in snow, my lashes slowly began to freeze, and the longer I was standing the harder it became to move. -25 °C. My lashes began to freeze and my face was slowly turning purple.
While pushing myself out of my comfort zone it was still one of the most mesmerizing views I’ve seen and exactly this feeling I wanted to recreate using the images taken there combined with northern lights.
