"Reclaimed" Artefacts

Created using digital photo manipulation and digital collage techniques blended with physical photographs. The piece was inspired by Western countries that took part in the theft of millions of works of African art during periods of war and colonialism. Galleries and Museums played a significant role in shaping colonialism, conquest narratives, and the justification of conquests. The artwork was created to highlight the "what if" scenario—what if our past persisted? Would it have affected our future?
