Still heavily controlled all over the world, Absinthe is a drink with many myths and many secrets. But why is Absinthe so seductive? Apart from its amazing taste, some of the key answers lie in its mystery. Did Van Gogh really cut its ear after drinking too much of it? Is it that hallucinogenic to a point that it becomes dangerous? And if not, why was it constitutionally forbidden for a century in the same place where it was born - in a small region of Switzerland, in Val-de-Travers, Jura?
Absinthe is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic beverage (45–74% ABV / 90–148 U.S. proof). It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium ("grand wormwood"), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe traditionally has a natural green color but may also be colorless. It is commonly referred to in historical literature as la fée verte ("the green fairy").
Perhaps many of you already know of myths surrounding Absinthe, as how come the good and real Absinthe was giving hallucinogenic effects, possibly even to see the green fairy. Well, based on more or less of that.. I have created the 'real' Absinthe bottle with 2 fairies inside, loving and dissolving to create a 'real' Absinthe (or Absenta in Spanish). Hope you enjoy this creation :)
