As a younger artist, still in an emerging stage according to Google, it’s easy to make missteps while trying to grow. Often I want to move to the beat of my own drum, but
there are times I’ll need to rely on others. In the moments I don’t need them, they mobilize like a small militia. Slowly making their way onto the dance floor, getting ever
closer to whispering the sweet nothings of potential opportunities in my ear. When I just so happen to have found my perfect groove.
Here I’ve built textures through three means: layering, materials, and color. This painting is my amalgamation of all three. The metallic paint has such a bright shine that it
helps the shadows come to life. A bristle brush was used to layer it, creating slight divots in paint lines. The oil pastels sit right on top, giving a soft but tactile impression on harsher, thicker paint. A cherry on top of bright and flashy colors, mimicking the lights on the dance floor. Something about emphasizing the texture of the artwork helps me immerse myself on that dance floor.
