The Alchemist

The Alchemist is the entity of Youth, of possibility and hope. A self-made force engineering organic compounds into biochemical perfumes with the ambitious mission to gain the power to heal the Earth. This deity conjures and creates elixirs that tinker with fast-evolving ecological demise, transforming doom into opportunity. The Alchemist is a generative animation connected to real-time data in which the digital and the physical are connected in symbiotic exchange. When the rate of local rainfall in a calendar day rises above the rate of the same day the year before it, this deity begins to effervesce into extinction. This transformation is haunting yet hypnotic, posing the question of how our connection as humans and our relationship to our planet is intertwined, and picturing how the youngest generations among us will be handed the biggest challenge humanity has ever come across, avoiding extinction.
