The Saboteur

The Saboteur is the goddess of Chaos, addiction, energy waste and destruction. The wake of her endless escape ripples endlessly on her environment, she has a penchant for deliberately destroying and consuming, hijacking her integrity, her planet, her body, and her reliability. Energy burns around her, the wasteland she holds onto is a consequence of her tempest-swept mind. Robotic trash pickers lift the technological debris and put it down somewhere else, going nowhere, nothing matters. The Saboteur is a generative animation connected to real-time data in which the digital and the physical are connected in symbiotic exchange. When the rate of local air pollution in a calendar day rises above the rate of the same day the year before it, this deity begins to effervesce into extinction. This transformation is haunting and yet, hypnotic, posing the question of how our connection as humans and our relationship to our technology is intertwined, and warning us of our abusive entanglement with this planet, and with ourselves.
