STRANGERS 2026 by Skygolpe
Three new 1/1 works presented by SuperRare, each paired with a framed fine art print.
The project began in December 2025, when Skygolpe converted his entire visual and textual archive into a dataset to build an AI-based system trained solely on his own material. The first results had an unexpected force. They preserved the internal DNA of his practice, yet reconfigured it into something more visceral, dissonant, and alive.
The dataset was gradually expanded with material produced specifically for the process. Hand-painted plexiglass surfaces were scanned and absorbed back into the system, while an ongoing dialogue with LLMs introduced another layer through language and interpretation.
STRANGERS developed around the idea that what we perceive as foreign is never completely outside us. A stranger is never simply an unknown presence. Precisely because we do not know them, we inevitably fill that distance with our own projections. This distorted mirror can sometimes become the most intimate form of self-recognition.

Skygolpe (Mattia Somovigo, b. 1986) is an independent artist based in Italy, whose practice moves fluidly across digital, physical, and multimedia environments. His work is characterized by a striking visual force combined with a philosophical approach.
Among the early artists in the NFT space, he has explored blockchain as both an artistic medium and a new framework for authentication, while continuously questioning the relationship between digital ownership and physical presence.
His works have been sold by major international auction houses and exhibited in museums, galleries, and public spaces worldwide. His ongoing research engages artificial intelligence as an advanced field of inquiry, examining how technology and progress reshape artistic meaning and perception.
