In these immersive illustrations, I hark back to the excitement of the movie-theater experience in a pre-covid era. Driven by a deep longing of a to return to normalcy, these images feature film references, pop culture icons, and callbacks to the NFT community. You can check out the full series here.

I thought a great way to further this celebration of cinema was to reach out to some of the most revered collectors on SuperRare and ask them two questions about THEIR collection:
Lots of really fun responses came from this. HUGE thanks to everyone who took the time to answer. It was really fun getting to know everyone a little bit. Please take a chance to check out their collections and the artists they’ve mentioned!

“Would call the movie “The 0x-Files”” -colborn

Artist: @moteh
Collector: @brandonkangfilms
“It would have to be “Howl” by Moteh, for a movie I would call “The Search Unknown”. Taking all things into account that would go into a movie poster, this piece would be the perfect fit with all the white space to fill with text around the main subject, with an ominous feeling of a car sinking, unknowing where it will end up in the depths of the deep blue.” – brandonkangfilms

Artist: @zaidkirdsey
Collector: @blockchainjames
“If my [whole] collection was a movie, The movie would be called ‘Colours of the Universe’” -blockchainjames

Artist: @petertarka
Collector: @javajam
“Dream State: Cinematic escapism at its finest…an immersive experience that transports the viewer to a place both intimately familiar yet seemingly otherworldly….a total picture of Eastern serenity and calm; the sounds of gentle ocean ripples lapping, the feeling of floating…paradise found.” –javajam

Artist: @parrott_ism
Collector: @deej
“This one by @itsparrott. ‘Red Dawn’ is also an epic movie title.” – deej

Artist: @catelloo
Collector: @noradio
“Looking through my collection I’m not seeing any fun romcoms. It’s all pretty severe. This one has good negative space along the top for title text. It would be called, Disappearing” – noradio
Artist: @carlosmarcialt & xcopy
Collector: @nohbhodi
“Infinite CONSUME! a collaboration between carlos marcialt and xcopy. Archeologists, digging in Mesopotamia, discovered the ancient tomb of Nergal — the Mesopotamian god of death. They didn’t heed the inscriptions, and upon breaking the seal of the tomb, an ancient evil was released, unleashing terror, death and decay! Nergal is without true form, but can often be seen in the patterns of flies, vermin and other pestilence that is drawn to him.” –nohbhodi

Artist: @jasonebeyer
Collector: @sillycat
“Bold Chair by Jason Ebeyer would make a FANTASTIC movie poster, and I would title it, ‘Flashdance 2: Can’t Stop Dancing’ LOL” – sillycat

Artist: @mbsjq
Collector: @keyboardmonkey3
“The title I would go with is ‘Fear and Loathing in the Other Rim.’ Gives me a whole vibe of waking up in a Vegas-esque fever dream after a wild night in space.” – keyboardmonkey3

Artist: @alecttn
Collector: @snailexpress
“The Girl with the Horse Tattoo.” – snailexpress

Artist: @ winteagle
Collector: @ jedscryogenicstorage
“Eiffel 65: The Rockumentary” – tenjed

Artist: @jonnoorlander
Collector: @z10n
“Perfect Movie Poster. Can even call it, I am not fucking selling it.
About a collector who doesn’t want to sell anything.” – z10n

Artist: @stuballinger
Collector: @caktux
“Ninth Wave could make an okay sci-fi of the same name” – caktux

Artist: @normanharman
Collector: @the_alchemist
“I think I would probably go with this one and use it for a movie titled “The Fall of Fiat”” – the_alchemist
Artist: @missalsimpson
Collector: @collin2
“I’d call it “MoneyArt” since the piece obvi riffs off currency but also cryptoart & currency are so intertwined (the art-associated tokens exist on a blockchain – ethereum – that functios as currency)” – collin2

Artist: @parrott_ism
Collector: @therelentless1
“Movie: “The Portal” – therelentless1

Artist: @grif
Collector: @think_flexible
“This piece by Grif/ Shane might be a good one. As for name of the movie, anything Mars might work? haha.” – think_flexible

Artist: @ nvllsekt
Collector: @ creator_collection
“Movie title: Steele
A story set in 2525 where a girl has something stolen from her, and must exact revenge on numerous foes. Takes place in futuristic city like maybe in one of the cities in Dan Giuz pieces. That’s what I got!!” – nvllsekt

Artist: @zakulele
Collector: @digitalartchick
“thanks I actually do have a really good one for this. it would be called “The Past” and be about how future AI tries to piece together humanities past from their digital footprint. all humans would be gone at this point.” – digitalartchick

Artist: @mariussperlich
Collector: @ jeffbezosforeskin
“I would call this movie “High on Crypto, Bullish or Bullshit” and it would be the cover of the inevitable Netflix docu series that is going to document all of the amazing beautiful and chaotic NFT and crypto craze going on right now once crypto art hits the mainstream. Can’t wait for that day.” – jeffbezosforeskin

Artist: @nogland
Collector: @olid
“I think Nogland (Grant Wallich) has this amazing ability in his work to make disgusting looking characters seem as though they are misunderstood. When looking at them you have high levels of empathy for them. I own Salmon and I think it would make a great poster for a story of a misunderstood corpse who is just trying to find his place in life! I could imagine the Cannes and Sundance festival awards over the top for this work!” – olid

Artist: @weareforeal
Collector: @k1ng
“the title of film would be called “Decentrabot”” – k1ng

Artist: @jedeyr
Collector: @randaartvault
“For the movie poster how about this piece by Jedeyr. Suspense drama, title “The Revenge””. – randaartvault

Artist: @artbynafay
Collector: @__defi__
“It’s called Ether of the Wilds but I suppose we could call the movie “The Rise of Ether” –
