The Escapist

I used to be an escapist. An active avoidant if you will, always seeking comfort and distraction within the constructs of my own imagination. As a young girl, I’d often fantasize about the places I’d travel and the sights I would discover. Anything to avert my attention away from the current situation at hand. As the years went by, I practised staying present, awake and attune to my feelings and desires. Until finally one day, instead of retreating into my mind, I leapt forward and chose to seek the reality of what I always dreamt my life would become.
