There are two basic interpretations of reality: realism, which states that reality exists objectively, phenomenalism, which states that reality is only discovered by man in the process of cognition.
If you indoctrinate a person with an illusion, it can become reality in his subjective sphere. Illusions are powerful and dangerous, but to many of us they seem a safe haven.
