Towards the Corral

Hurmetci Grassland, located in Kayseri province of Turkey, is home to hundreds of horses. The horses that were previously used by the villagers in the fields and in various farming jobs were not needed anymore because of the development of technology and so they were left in the Hurmetci Grassland. Later, these horses increased in number and their number reached hundreds, so they were adopted by the animal lover villager cowboy called Ali Dayi and these horses were able to survive by being fed by him in this plain which is always under the snow during the winter months. In the grassland that dries up in summer, when all the horses run at once, magnificent views emerge with the dust cloud formed during the day. After sunset, Ali Dayi is leading his herd of horses towards the corral in the grassland where they would spend the night. Artist: Meriç Aktar Camera: Nikon D750 Dimensions: 5300 ×3500 - 10 MB Resolution: 300 dpi ,18 mpx Location: Kayseri, Turkey Date: 08/08/2022 Edition: 1/1 About the photographer : Meriç Aktar is an award-winner cultural and travel photographer based in Hatay, Turkey. He loves chasing the light and capturing the moment. As a photographer who is been shooting for 10 years, photography allows him to connect with the world around him. The camera acts like an icebreaker that will let him strike up a conversation with just about anyone. It also acts as a key that opens doors for him and gives him the opportunity to get to places he’d otherwise have no reason to be. It changed his perception of the world, and his relationship to people. It made him become more empathetic, and more aware of the many different realities people experience. The fact that a camera can freeze a moment in time and make it last forever is what makes photography special to him. Not only is it a way to travel back in time, it gives the viewer a chance to share some of the action and feelings of the moment a photographer witnessed and captured. That’s why he likes cultural photography and travel stories above all other photography categories; they’re not images, they’re snippets of someone else’s life that you get to experience yourself . Briefly, photography is an escape for him. It's a moment in time to separate from the normality of his routines and sink into the sublime pleasure of creating art. He can forget about life's troubles for 1/200th of a second and simply focus on the life present within the confines of his viewfinder. LICENCE : Extended Editorial.
