Row 1 Column 3 ⬛ 5/9 in the RXCX series ⬛ sprice.studio/rxcx ⬛ "R1C3" is a VR mosaic of human & computer interpretations of an original abstract painting. A neural network generated imagery in response to the ambiguous picture, which an audience curated based on their own perceptions. The resulting visuals have a fuzzy character, but they can be stitched together to produce larger landscapes with uncanny, lifelike qualities. ⬛ My process for collaging can best be described as a reverse puzzle, where the look of the pieces guide what I decide the image will become. The results mirror the look of space photography, in which massive pictures of the most distant, uncertain features we can measure are assembled into larger, coherent images. ⬛ Nothing is darker than space. Exploring it parallels the creative process, as both are acts of drawing out clarity from an ambiguous background.
