Sacrifice

This fire was still burning all around me as I made this image. Not in a way that caused fear but in a gentle way that shapes and reshapes the landscape year in and year out. Always life from death and this blackened hillside is already green with new shoots waiting for rain. The endless cycle of the wild and it's people. A self portrait made in outback Australia on Dalabon Country in Arnhem Land, I pay my respects to the traditional owners of the land for being allowed to make work here.
