In the world of finance, there lies a scheme,
A deceptive illusion, a treacherous dream.
Ponzi, the name, the infamous game,
Promising riches, yet leaving no gain.
Investors, they come, they line up with hope,
Drawn to the promise, like moths to a trope.
The first wave is paid, and the word starts to spread,
Of fortunes amassed, and of wealth that's been bred.
The money rolls in, a river of greed,
With the promise of more, it's an insatiable need.
But Ponzi's dark secret, the truth that's concealed,
Is that new money pays old, as layers are revealed.
No true profits are made, just a charade,
As the mastermind waits, in the shadows he's played.
The scheme, unsustainable, starts to crumble and shake,
And the truth is revealed, exposing the fake.
Investors are crushed, their dreams turned to dust,
For in Ponzi they trusted, with blind faith and lust.
A cautionary tale, in the world of deceit,
Of the siren's call luring, with its dangerous beat.
