Wayside Oasis

While this may seem like a beautiful little hidden lake with fog-shrouded waterfalls and fantasy novel vibes, it's actually the far end of the massive **Ringedalsvatnet** lake, which is the same body of water that can be seen from the Trolltunga viewpoint. We paused nearby while on the trail to admire the vastness of the landscape, and to gawk at the snow-covered mountains and hills beyond. Our trip to the land of trolls and fjords took place in the middle of summer, so we were quite surprised to see any snow at all! As I munched on a granola bar, I pondered whether anybody had made the hazardous trek down the rocky cliff faces to the waters below. Only much more recently did I actually look it up; there are photos from those gravel shores from the early 1900s!
