Through centuries, artists create together
Through millenniums, artworks build a legacy
Through æons, art lovers share and perpetuate
3 Renaissances, 1 Timechain
In 2026, the series was finally reunited with the home of its source material: the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This took place through a short exhibition in the Main Hall, where every artist was asked to use AI tools to reimagine works from the museum’s collection. To celebrate this accomplishment, I created this new iteration.
Reminiscent of another Renaissance artist—Arcimboldo—this piece is a simulation of how I imagine the art of a future Renaissance might look.
Most people focus on screens, electronics, and the digital realm when they imagine the future. However, I believe that with the growing knowledge of biology, genetics, and epigenetics, artists of the future might learn to grow and sustain living forms as part of their artistic practice—custom mushrooms, designer flowers, and so on. Combined with miniaturized intelligent systems and mechanical elements, the result could look something like this artwork.
