Mother

Mother is the fourth and final work within my opening series Birth Through the Machine on SuperRare. Each work combines unique AI methods/networks while maintaining visual control in process. This is not the output of a single prompt, but a mixed medium collaborative approach rooted entirely in AI. I believe this series to be the first of its kind including a method of manual AI collaging. I decided to use artbreeder at the root of creation as it’s one of the most visual public models available. Layering/over-painting is applied using deep learning software to add texture and increases the texturing and depth of the work. Fusing early & untouched AI as much as possible within these works allows me to push the boundaries of what is possible from the most accessible tools and models available. This series stemmed from the curiosity for finding unique ways of moulding AI to embed personal experience and style. Mother is the telling of two lives. Figures we can all relate to whether through blood or connection. Initially titled God Is a Woman, the halo represents the ethereal form of motherhood. I was raised solely by my mother therefore my god is a woman. The childs clothing is a reference to the Rorschach inkblot test. A questioning of personality, identity & the human condition. AI has shown us that the unthinkable is possible and we are still only scratching the surface. We as humans & artists are the driving force behind this movement and to push it forward, we can look inwards to remove the barriers. Cross models, cross-genres, cross mediums. Print it, deface it, run the outputs through the machine & back out again. The birth of new medium needs experimentation to flourish. I have taken this work deeper into 3D exploration using further machine learning & AI tools. An animated twin of mother will be gifted with this piece via airdrop.
