This accent is originally from the island of São Luís, it has a vibrant, happy, and relaxing rhythm. Its sound is essentially based on the matracas (percussion instrument formed by two pieces of wood), accompanied by the beats of tambourines, also marked by the tambores de onça and maracás.
In the groups of Boi de Matraca, the number of dancers can go as high as five hundred and their main components are the Caboclo Real or Caboclo de Pena, the Indians and the Rajados (Caboclos de Fita). In this accent, the Rajados are more discreet, having as a central character the Caboclo Real, who in his dance imitates the rhythm of the matracas, as shown in the work.
