Arlequin

Architectural drawing. We investigate the relationships within the space. We enhance the experience and perception of space within the concept of architecture and spatial design. During the Rose Period—a time that deeply inspires our practice—Picasso was living in Montmartre, Paris, surrounded by circus performers and bohemian artists. One of the most iconic and recurring figures in his work from this era (circa 1904–1906) is Arlequin (the Harlequin), who often serves as a symbolic stand-in for the artist himself, suspended between reality and illusion. In Family of Saltimbanques (1905), the masterpiece of his Rose Period, Picasso portrays himself as the Harlequin, dressed in the character’s signature diamond-patterned costume. This figure becomes a deeply personal symbol, reflecting themes of identity, isolation, and creativity—core ideas that, along with Picasso’s masterful command of form, continue to resonate in and inform our own practice.
