the STATE OF DECAY series explores the ideas of accelerated decay in western civilisations, in some regards we take leaps and strides forward, but in others we slide deeper into a chasm of decadence and stagnation.
KING OF THE HILL is intended to be grotesque, uncomfortable and in general providing commentary on the influence of advertising and fast food on children in America.
The United States leads Western countries in childhood obesity, with 19.7% of children aged 2-19 classified as obese. This presents a major public health challenge as obesity rates continue to rise. One of the key drivers is the prevalence of fast food, which is high in calories, fats, and sugars.
Fast food advertising, heavily targeting children through TV and digital platforms, plays a significant role in this issue. Increased exposure to these ads correlates with higher consumption of unhealthy foods, fueling the obesity epidemic. KING OF THE HILL is inspired by my own personal experience with fast food, and addiction. Considering the relationship between fast food culture, advertising, and childhood obesity.

WAPPY MEALS
WAPPY MEALS is a music video that portrays the indoctrination of children into a fast food cult during a birthday party. Using AI-generated visuals to evoke unsettling and surreal emotions, the video accompanies a dark hip hop track told from the perspective of clowns. Their goal is to transform the kids into clowns who work at the fictional restaurant "Wackas." With a revelation that the clowns were once normal children themselves, highlighting the cyclical nature of addiction and unhealthy eating habits.
