The Pothole Crew #1607

The night crew fills the monster pothole under work lights, steam rising off fresh blacktop like a healed wound. The cone that sank is retrieved and saluted, the patch smoothed like icing. //----------- THE CITY IS HAVING ITS MOMENT. Summer 2026. The Knicks just took the title for the first time in 53 years and two million people flooded the Canyon of Heroes to bury them in ticker tape. The World Cup is landing at MetLife and the whole planet is looking at this harbor. A 34-year-old from Queens is the mayor, handing the Knicks the keys to the city while Alicia Keys sings Empire State of Mind. The weather is perfect. The parties are loud. The food is the best on earth. MLow NYC Taxi cabs are seen on every other block. And the city is full: the lifers on the stoop who never left, the tourists with the MetroCard in backwards, the fresh meat off the bus with two suitcases and a dream, the AI tech bro and the finance Chad and the crypto degen all somehow in the same overpriced coffee line. Eight million main characters. Few are from here. Everybody becomes from here. NEW YORKERS is a love letter to all of them.
