Observe now the caravan. A small dwelling, portable, provisional — and therefore the perfect house of daydream, for the dreaming house must never be a house one is obliged to maintain. It has caught light the way dry grass catches fire.
And the water: motionless, reflecting. Every reverie of standing water is a reverie of doubling, and doubling is the first grammar of the imagination. The swimmer, the two seated friends, the one asleep in the grass — these are not four persons. They are four durations of the same afternoon.
The rainbow leans. Of course it leans. Curved light is light that has consented to be looked at.
