In clouds' embrace, whispers of the past roam,
Loved ones departed, their presence I comb.
Ghosts of affection, a solace divine,
Their ethereal touch, an eternal sign.
Embracing the skies, their spirits align
Series Description: The DreamScape series explores the therapeutic potential of dream analysis, delving into the unconscious mind through the lenses of psychoanalysis and surrealism. Drawing inspiration from renowned Surrealist artists like Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, and Yves Tanguy, as well as influential psychologists such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, the series captures the essence of psychoanalysis and surrealist theories and explorations.
Sigmund Freud, a prominent figure in psychoanalysis, emphasized the significance of dream analysis in unlocking the depths of the unconscious. He viewed dreams as manifestations of repressed psychological material, providing insights into suppressed conflicts and desires. In line with modern theories, dreaming is now believed to aid in emotional processing by encoding and constructing memories associated with those emotions. While the experiences and events in dreams may be imagined, the emotions they elicit are undeniably real. The narrative of our dreams seeks to extract the emotional essence of a particular experience by creating a lasting memory, thereby rendering the emotion itself inactive.
The DreamScape series captures the psychotherapeutic nature of dream exploration, employing the lens of Surrealism to deconstruct experiences, emotions, and memories. The creative process behind this series involves psychoanalysis, research, journaling, meditation, and lucid dreaming practices. These elements are then translated into digital artworks using a combination of AI tools like Midjourney and DALL·E 2, alongside matte painting and compositing techniques with Adobe Photoshop.
By revisiting the fundamental intention of psychoanalysis within the Surrealist art movement, the DreamScape series aims to present a modern perspective on tapping into the unconscious and the therapeutic benefits it offers for mental healing. Through its thought-provoking visuals and concepts, this series invites viewers to embark on a journey of exploring the power of dreams and their potential for personal growth and self-discovery.
