Technocrator

Technocrator, 2022 Unique work. This is a video portrait of a Technocrator, a high priest from a distant future society. The work is part of Deemona, my first project in an ongoing series on alternative realities. The series portrays a later and more radical phase of the Anthropocene, a world where humans are the last remaining complex living beings and where the physical and virtual worlds have merged. After genetic and binary code were integrated into the mythical prompt that generated Deemona a new complex system emerged - a post-biotic environment. Purpose was removed from action; goals and objectives were detached from work. And labour metamorphosed into a symphonic abstraction. The sublime emotions of productivity and the eternal pursuit of optimisation nirvana became the new collective transcendental experience. The Technocrators – who occupy the highest echelons of Deemonian society – spend their time engaged in mathematical meditation. This is how they visualise the algorithms and formulas that they pass on to the lower echelons to keep on optimising and making Deemona a more efficient society.
