The Digital Cave

A modern reinterpretation of Plato's Allegory of the Cave, this artwork explores humanity's increasing entanglement with digital realities. The room, pixelated and filled with fragmented png shadows, represents a world where files have replaced tangible truths. A solitary figure sits on the threshold of an open door, leading to the real world, yet remains tethered to the artificial comfort of the digital. Butterflies, a fleeting symbol of freedom, hovers outside, ignored, as the figure watches their digital shadows while he dissolves into the vibrant yet unreal patterns. This piece urges viewers to reflect on their own engagement with technology and to consider whether they, too, are prisoners of their own virtual cave.
