Living Room Extravaganza - Leisure Day
Post-painting
Circa 2026
Leisure Day unfolds in that strange territory where catastrophe has become so familiar it no longer interrupts the afternoon. Beneath the impossible architecture of a mushroom cloud, clowns tend the barbecue, bodies surrender to the swimming pool and fighter jets cross a sky already belonging to history.
The work is less concerned with apocalypse than with our accommodation of it. Contemporary life has perfected the ability to absorb horror without surrendering comfort: war becomes content, collapse becomes spectacle, and existential dread is folded quietly into the routines of leisure.
Through post-painting, the image itself begins to fracture under this contradiction. Photography, synthetic imagery, digital corruption and paint collide until reality appears unstable, partially erased and already becoming memory.
The terror is not that the world might end.
It is that we might become accustomed to watching it happen.
